140 hp mercury outboard motor?

Just bought a boat with a 1979 140hp mercury motor on it and believe it is wired wrong. Does anyone know the firing order on this motor. I need to know firing order on the head and need to know which one is #1 on the distributor.

The timing for your engine depends on the model of it. I will give you some specs for various engines.....Merc 500...1324,  merc 650 ...123...merc850..up to serial 4366801.....1324merc 850 over 4366802..1324.merc 1150to 1500 models....145236...merc 1750...123456.....merc 700...123......Location of plug wires...top of coil #1 #2 #3 #4 going top to bottom.
