  1. Any age group can throw a slider as long as the learn how to. You shouldn't really try to until about 16 or 17 though because it can place a lot of pressure and cause injury.

  2. Keep throwing that slider. You're baseball career will be over real quick. Then you can blame the coach for not warning you. You are headed for injury and surgery. Keep it up.

  3. Sure it is possible, but maybe your coach doesn't want you to.  Curves and sliders put a lot of awkward stress on your shoulder, and can really tear your arm up while you are still developing.

Look at the pitchers that have lasted a long time in baseball, and nearly all of them are fastball pitchers.  Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemmons, Randy Johnson, etc.

  4. it is possible 4 u 2 throw a slider but you shouldn't you are going 2 regret it your arm is not developed yet 2 throw a breaking ball you should learn how 2 throw a change up....

  5. Your coach is a smart man. The torque force on your arm from throwing a slider or a curve before your muscles and skeletal structure are fully developed will injure you. Stay with the fast ball and try to develop a changeup using the same motion. When you get to be 16, then try for the slider.

  6. Well, if there are nine year olds who are banned from their baseball leagues because they throw 40 mph, then by that logic you can probably pitch a slider... I know I could at 16...
