  1. Being pregnant causes major changes in the body.  There are a couple of things the headaches could be from.

They might be hormonal. Fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone can cause headaches.  it's possible that this is the cause.

They also may be caused from dehydration.  this is the number one cause of headaches in everyone, not just those who are pregnant.  When you get pregnant, your blood volume increases by one third.  This means that you need more water to stay hydrated.  Try to increase your fluid intake.

The third possibility, and the most dangerous, is that your blood pressure is elevated.  This occurs in pregnancy sometimes and is called pre-ecclampsia, until it rises over a certain point, then it's called ecclampsia. Anyways, this again is a result of the excess blood volume, and will usually resolve itself after the baby is born, but it can cause complication for the mother.  If severe enough, it can actually cause stroke during labor and delivery.  Definitely mention this to you doc.

Also, tylenol is the only class A (proven safety during pregnancy)  drug that can be used for headaches while pregnant.  Try non-pharmacologic methods as well, such as putting a cool cloth on your head and neck and going to lay in a dark, noiseless room.

  2. Keep a very close check on your blood pressure.  And I don't think you need to take Ibuprofen while pregnant.  Ask the doc to be sure, but I have always been told not to.  My blood pressure has been a high normal for most of my pregnancy and the Dr always asks, "Are you having headaches?"  So I am pretty sure that goes hand in hand.  Plus there was one day that I had eaten alot of salty food the day before and my bp was 186/94....which is EXTREMELY high for me.  And I was dizzy and sweating with nauseating headaches.  So drink lots of water, watch your salt, and check your bp.

  3. I agree with the above it sounds more like you are dehydrated.

  4. I am 14 weeks and have the same thing! It's terrible. Just an FYI, Ibuprofen is not safe to take. You should only take Tylenol, or any other meds the doctor says is safe.

I'm sorry I don't have much advice. I drink plenty of water, get good sleep etc., but I have a headache pretty much 24/7.

Know you aren't alone and that this will all pay off in the end!

  5. Make sure you are drinking enough water cauese your body is changing & make sure you are getting the nutrition you need. Be careful with the meds.I am a metaphysical healer so I would ask you to think about what is going on in your life. Something is hurting you emotionally. It has to do with you getting ahead in life. You would have to work around this issues. I coach people so I suggest you get a life coach or someone who can help you pull up the thoughts you are having & replace them with better thought & this pain will go away completely.
