Question:

15 and I want to be a film actress. Acting coach/lessons? Agent? Auditions? COLLEGE?

Right now I'm very involved with my school's theater arts department. Over the summers I always attend camps or schools for the arts. However, I want to focus more on film, not theater.

1) How do I get an agent? (one that's not a scam)

2) Where's a good place to find an acting coach or lessons? 3) Where do I look for auditions? (especially in the Virginia/DC area)

4) Do you reccomend any schools for film acting?

Also, does it matter to agents if your skin isn't crystal clear? I still have issues and I'm currently seeing a derm.

I AM NOT someone looking to get famous. I do not care if I never get famous. I want to better my acting so I can do this for the rest of my life. This is something I love and am very passionate about.

  1. The skin thing won't matter that much.  The camera can actually hide some stuff, and what it doesn't, make-up usually will.  But the dermatologist is good!

To get an agent, get a copy of the Ross Report and start mailing out professional headshots with nice resumes and polite cover letters.  Then pray.

For film, you're really going to have to go to LA or NYC.  Try the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (www.sft.edu).  They have a summer program that you don't have to audition for.  There are others like that, too.

Keep in mind that you're really young!  You still have lots of time to get training and find work--in that order!

    Good luck!
