  1. as long as all the pocks have scabbed over completely and are coming off of their own accord (not being pulled off ) she is no longer contagious

  2. ya but still its better to perhaps wait a day or two.

  3. I think the scars have to be healed before the child can come back to school, but you might want to check with your school district. I'm a preschool teacher and I've never had chicken pox, and there was just a huge outbreak in my class. I have shingles now... but not severe because I haven't been scracthing. You should always be careful and ask the school before you send her back. You can put other children and even teachers in danger.

  4. That is going to depend on school policy.

BTW, this is the homeschooling section.  You may have better luck with answers if you post in "primary & secondary education".

  5. <<After about 8-12 hours the fluid in the vesicle gets cloudy and the vesicle breaks leaving a crust. The fluid is highly contagious, but once the lesion crusts over, it is not considered contagious. The crust usually falls off after 7 days sometimes leaving a craterlike scar. Although one lesion goes through this complete cycle in about 7 days, another hallmark of chicken pox is the fact that new lesions crop up every day for several days. Therefore, it may take about a week until new lesions stop appearing and existing lesions crust over. Children are not sent back to school until all lesions have crusted over. >>

<<You or your child can go back to work, school, or day care when all blisters have crusted over. This is usually about 10 days after the first symptoms start>>
