Question:

15 minute run?

I've been going for a run around the block each night. It takes 15 minutes and is about 2.5km (1.5miles). Is this any good? I run pretty hard out, I can't go any quicker. What should I aim for? Maybe I should do two laps (3miles/5km) at a slower pace to get better.

  1. thats really good!!

you should aim to get 2.5 kms in 12 mins and then move up to 5 kms. then once you improve on your time for that go for longer. thats the best way to improve.

    well done and keep running

  2. You should set yourself a goal, whether it be to run faster or farther. Get a training schedule for a half marathon and follow that. Before you know it you'll be running a few miles and around the block a bunch of times.

What really kicked me into gear was committing to a marathon. I knew that I had to train if I was to survive. So that got me to run more an more miles so that I could run the entire race. Maybe look for a local race, something like a 5K to train for. That's only 3 miles and they usually pretty cheap, like $15 bucks to be in the race.

Whatever you decide, good luck. Keep on trying. It's hard in the beginning, but it's the only way to get better.

  3. 15 mins is a great time! Maybe you could find a better track with an incline to make you work that bit harder?
