  1. Children eat what they need. If she is not hungry then don't push her to eat, children know better than most adults do when they are hungry and when they have had enough to eat. Unless she is too thin or not developing properly then there is nothing to worry about.

With the picky thing though, don't force her to eat the things that she doesn't like but at the same time if you don't want a picky child keep offering the food that she turns her nose down on. She may just start eating it one day, also if you eat it too then she will follow by example.

Edit: Things will change their habits as long as you keep encouraging her to try new foods. My son who is four still decides out of the blue that he doesn't like a certain food only to enjoy it a few months later. Like I said, don't worry about her only seeming to eat a little bit, kids take what they need and if they are developing normally, not hungry, not lethargic and getting their fluids than they are fine.

  2. My son is almost 4 and he eats very little...he will eat some fruit and veggies and then won't eat for another day...i asked his dr and he said that kids are smarter than we are...they don't eat according to a clock but when they are hungry.  He also said that if he eats one good meal and then snacks every four days he should be good.

  3. She will eat more things in time, shes just used to eating only certain foods. try introducing her to new things. As for being picky, I like to refer to it as being "selective".

  4. My son is 21 months - his pickyness started about 14 months - until then he ate every single table food I put in front of him.  My nephew is still picky - he's 3.5 yrs.  Our doctor said this is normal - to give them what you are eating and if they don't eat it, they will be hungry for the next meal and eat it.  Easy for her to say - she doesn't have to hear him screaming for 4 hours.  I give him baby vitamins and make him what he will eat, but then put something else with it so he will try it (he doesn't - he throws it on the floor, but at least I'm trying).

Good luck.  I know your frustration.

  5. Is she healthy and gaining weight?  If so you have nothing to worry about especially if you are still breastfeeding because anything her diet is lacking she can get from you.  My daughter was the same way I kept her on formula until she was 18 months after the formula stopped she got more of an appetite but she really didn't start eating until she turned 2 she is 2 1/2 now and still very picky some days but she is healthy and growing and really that's all that matters.  I know it seems really alarming at times when all they eat all day is a piece of toast or something but every doctor told me not to worry.  Good luck

  6. kids know when they are hungry just like you know when you want to eat  so  as long as she is eating  something  and  drinking  dont  worry

  7. I have a baby the same age with the same problem.

If your daughter is growing and gaining weight, don't worry about it. However, if it goes on too long, your doctor may want to supplement her with those PediaSure shakes or vitamin drops to make sure she's getting the nutrients she needs.

If she's not gaining weight, definitely ask your doctor about it. She may need to be checked for food allergies, anemia or other kinds of health problems.

One suggestion: See if you can blend together some other foods and mix them into the food she will eat. For example, if she likes yogurt but won't eat fruit, mix some fruit in a blender and stir it into the yogurt.

  8. Of Course she will change,

just give it time and gradually try to feed her different things. My sisters 8 month old will eat anything now. lol
