Hi all.

My dd will be 15 months @ halloween & I was just wondering

Is this too early to take her trick or treating - Of course she cant have any of the candy (poor lass LOL) but I would love to tak her out & about in costume - even if just for a 1/2 an hour up & down the block =)

Do you think if we did the whole doorbell thing the people that answer the door would think we were nuts b/c shes so young?

?

  1. I dont think so. So many people around here take their little bitey babies around trick or treating which I find ridiculous. But at your childs age, no. Go to a couple houses and then go back to your own and let your child help you hand out candy at your house in his/her costume.

  2. It's acceptable if you keep it short (like you already planned), do just a couple neighborhood houses - hopefully they're familiar with your child - and maybe drive to a couple aunts/uncles/grandma so they can see the costume. Have them carry a very small treat bag so people know it's really just for the photo factor (better yet, be carrying the camera and taking shots).

So long as you get the mementos and your dd gets her first experience, who cares what people think!

  3. of course you could take her trick or treating. Pick a nice warm costume for her. those ones with hoods are great. She probably will not wear a mask. A cute little fairy or princess would be cute but remember it's usually chilly on halloween.

  4. I took my 10 month old to a few houses...and then visited ppl we knew...this way he got things in his bag that he could eat...so tell a few friends to have toddler friendly treats ready for him when you guys show up...the little boxes of cheerios were a big hit with my son.

  5. no your not nuts its fun!! go out when it is starting to get dark so that its still a little light out, but if your child isn't gonna have any of the candy maybe you could put something non edible in their bag so that they get a treat too, thats what its all about right?

  6. My kids all went trick-or-treating on their 1st Halloween. My oldest was born in July and went in October. He was on'y a few months old, but we dressed up and dressed him up. It was fun and we got a lot of good pics. We didn't stay out HOURS but it was decent.

A 15-month old is PLENTY old enough to go trick-ortreating. They make costumes her size right?

Why can't she have nay candy? Intolerance, or you just don't allow it?

Either way, My kids have fun trick-or-treating every year, and eating their candy afterwards. This year my 5, 3, 2, and then 10 month old will be going. It will be fun, as always.

  7. Dress her up and take her around! People love to see younger kids all dressed up!

  8. I think that a better idea would be to dress her up, and parade her up and down your neighborhoods, where you know kids are parading up and down the blocks too. All the kids will ooohhh and ahhhh over your adorable pumpkin, and you'll have achieved your goal without making yourself into a fool by ringing peoples doorbells.

Or you can make a kiddie halloween costume party and invite friends and neighbors with their toddlers.

  9. I think that it is fine if you take her out and about in her costume for a little bit as long as its not too cold. We live in a pretty big neighbor hood and I have seen parents with babies that are like 3months old bring their baby trick or treating. My daughter is two and this is the first year that I will be taking her trick or treating. Last year we stayed at home and she tried to help pass out candy.

    Good luck

  10. I would just add to these other comments, make sure you know and trust your neighbors. Unfortunatley in today's society... you cant trust anyone.

My little one is 3. We still havent taken her door to door. BUT, what we do is take her to a ccouple of the local churches (ours included) that have carnivals/festivals..."trunk or treats"... it's always a load of fun. She loves playing the games and seeing all the other children dressed up too.

Plus since most of them do their events on different nights, we get a couple of nights of fun and she gets to dress-up more than one time!

  11. my son was born january 17, 1988.  that halloween, when he was nine months old, i took him trick or treating at our local mall.  he was a pumpkin and he was the cutest thing you've ever laid eyes on.  of course, he couldn't eat the candy, i donated it.  it was about showing off my gorgeous baby.  find out if your local mall does trick or treating.  then go and show off your gorgeous baby!

  12. I think that it's just fine.  I have 2 boys and took them trick or treating to get them out and show them off.  Their first outings were at 2 months and the other was at 2 weeks.  It's all in fun and nobody should think your nuts for going out for 1/2 an hour.  Have fun and atleast you get to eat the candy.
