15 year old cat HATES my 9 month old chihuahua?

I got a 9 month old chihuahua 2 days ago and my senior cat HATES him, my kitty it usually sweet and likes other animals but for some reason he hisses, chased, and bats at the dog. I have tryed everything, I don't want to have my cat in another room all the time i feel bad for him, this isn't the first time my cat has had a housemate, I had a cat a few years ago and they got along great, he has met my neighbors dogs, and my cousins dog and got along fine with them. my dog is scared of my cat, but sometimes when my cat attacks him the dog growls and snaps (but doesn't come close to actually biting him) is there anything I can do to help them get along better? Or does this just need time?

At 15 your cat probably isn't going to be welcoming to a new animal in the house, just keep the dog away as much as possible

I would consult an animal behaviorist, if you have the means to do so.  They may be able to give you specific strategies for easing them through this transition.

Also, it's very important that you NOT use Hartz on your pets.

Your cat is 15, he is entitled not to like something :)  Give it some time.

Your cat is showing remarkably good taste. I'm 57 years old and I hate chihuahuas too!

You really can't do much, just keep them away from each other or give the dog back.  There really isn't anything else you can do.

Not much you can do about cats, they are stubborn.
