My 16 month old girl cries hysterically every time I wash her hair and I can't do anything to calm her down. Could she be in pain? Or is she just annoyed? Please help!

  1. maybe u r getting soap in her eyes

  2. A lot of kids hate water running into their eyes.  Maybe you could try putting a dry washcloth over her eyes when you wet/rinse her hair to absorb any water, or hang something from the shower head and have her look up at it so the water doesn't go in her eyes.  Also, my daughter seemed to cry about water getting in her ears.  I don't know if it caused pain or just discomfort/annoyance, but small earplugs helped that.  Last thing I can think of is give her something to play with, something she only gets when it's time to wash her hair, that will distract her.  If she just plain doesn't like getting her hair washed, hopefully she'll grow out of it soon!  It makes bathtime hard when you dread it!

  3. it really depends on what your using to wash her hair with. I use the Johnson Johnson tear free stuff. also you don't have to wash her hair every day. you could try to make a game out of it as well tell her to dump the water over her head with a cup. best wishes

  4. she probably doesn't like the water.  She is not in pain unless the water is to hot.  Try letting her dump the water on your head or hers to get her used to it.  See if she can tilt her head backwards and you hold a wash cloth on her forehead that way any water that may roll down her face will be soaked up by the wash cloth.

  5. She might have a tender scalp, check the water temp lukewarm or slightly warmer. We have recently attached one of those hand held shower heads that works really well, so our son doesn't get scared about either dunking his head or having water poured over his head.
