16 year old car help?

Question

Alright, I'm 16 years old and recently got my license. My parents have said that they are going to get me a car shortly. They have not told me a budget or really talked about what kind of car that I want/should get. Anyways I really like Mustangs and seem to find fairly new (less than 5 years old and 20,000 or less miles on it) mustangs on used car sites for around 15 grand. My parents spent around 13 grand on my brothers car which was new (don't remember what model the car is right now except that its a ford). They have also told me that they want to purchase me a used car due to the fact that insurance is cheaper. I was wondering how gas-efficient mustangs are, if this would be a good car for a beginning driver. And lastly what other recommendations for cars do you have, (please note I don't really want a truck due to the expense of gas).

For you the mustangs insurance will be a lot. Rear wheel drive sports car means high premiums.

Buy a honda. Easy to find cheap to work on. You can build a decently fast car that looks nice under $10,000.

Look at 97-00 Civic's, or 95-00 Integras

Mustangs are a pain to insure or keep the tank full on. Not to mention unless you get the V8 it's not even really a good car.

Well if you get a stang w/ a v6 then gas mileage will be a lil better but insurance will still be a mother funky given it will be classified as a 2dr sport coupe.

If you are a ford guy then check out the focus...I know a few people that got them cheap and put a little bit of time into them and now they are really nice cars. Plus they have 4 bangers which are way better on gas and the insurance will def be cheaper than a stang.

one of the nicest "sports cars"

is the saturn "quad coupe"

it has the little extended cab rear doors

so it still looks like a sports car and

is insured as a 4 door

and saturns get 40+ mpg

and are very reliable

the red line editions also will smoke a mustang in a drag race

our first saturn has over 250,000 on it and still gets 40mpg

and I commute with it every day

never lets me down

Mustangs are not very efficient and your insurance would be fairly high due to the fact that it is a sports car.
