Question:

16 year old flying unaccompanied?

Thomas Cook Airlines state in their rules that 16 year olds can fly alone, yet on their Fly Thomas Cook website you cannot book a flight for a 16 year old unless they are travelling with an adult. Does that mean you can book with them at the travel agents shop for a 16 year old to fly but not online, or can you just not book full stop? I'm confused.

  1. It just means that your parents have to buy a ticket for you. you can't buy a ticket for yourself because you're too young.

  2. Maybe it is just to make sure that a 16 yo just can't go on internet and book without parents knowing

Most airlines I have flown on have facilities for this age and younger to fly unaccompanied , but you need to make this known when booking so that staff on the flight know and then keep an eye on things

So although it is not as convenient as booking on Internet go into travel agent and explain your situation

  3. It is likely that you can book in-store, From what I can remember this is because they require written consent from a parent or guardian at the time of booking, and obviously you cannot do this on-line
