  2. Florida traffic laws allow a person to obtain a learner's permit at the age of 15 after taking a written test. With this permit, he or she can only drive if accompanied by a licensed driver 21 years or older. The permit must be held for a minimum of 1 year, then there is a driving test which, if passed, allows you to earn your license as early as your 16th birthday.

While you are under 18, certain restrictions apply to your driving times. There's a loosely-enforced curfew which basically prevents you from driving before 6 AM or after... I think it was 10 PM? unless it's for school or work. I don't think there are any restrictions on driving to another state as long as you have a license.

If you obtain your learner's permit when you are 18 or older, you can literally turn around and take your road-test for your license in the same breath. I don't know why that is.

That's what it is for Florida, but it varies by state...

  3. You cant cross state lines unless you have a license driver with you that is 21 years of age and in some states that licensed driver needs to be a family member.

  4. Yeah, it's a provisional license meaning they can't drive people and have to be accompanied by an adult for the first 6 months. Being young and driving safely is very important. One accident, ticket, will set your insurance soaring high and parents won't be happy.
