  1. Well, I can tell you from my experience marrying a man 14 years older than me that it depends a lot on who you both are.  I think the biggest con is that you're probably at different life stages, I avoided this because he went back to school while I was still in school; essentially we were at the same developmental point.  Another con is that when I first met his friends and family I was very self conscious about being stereotyped as the younger girl.  But, if your significant other's friends/familiy are good people, you'll probably get over this pretty quickly.

One of my favorite pro's is often we get to joke about age differences!  When we see a tabloid about an old celebrity dating a young starlet we immediately condemn them for doing something so immoral and stupid.  But perhaps a more significant pro, is that I get to learn from him.  He certainly is more mature than guys my age - and when you are in the middle of a heated argument this matters more than all the crazy spontaneity in the world!

I think the bottom line is that age gaps are often a sign of differences, but depending on who you and your significant other are, it may or may not matter.

  2. I am 22 years age gap from my late husband.  There's nothing matters.  It's the love and understanding that counts.

  3. My boyfriend is 12 years my senior. PROS: he is a lot better in the sack than younger guys, he's done with school and has already "lived" a lot, he has a steady job. CONS: he has a lot more emotional baggage than guys my age, the women that he works with every day are all much more accomplished than I am - my "competition" is on a much larger spectrum now, his family thinks it's weird that we are together. Dating an older man is definitely (in my opinion) more difficult than dating a man who is your own age. I really don't think every woman can do it, and deal with all of the issues that come up (such as being the same age as his youngest sister). I think the pros outweigh the cons, however, and will probably always prefer much older men.
