£400,000 generated from ATP Tour Finals official launch for hospital charity – Tennis News
Top players from the field of tennis attended a Charity function conducted by Moët & Chandon to raise funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. The event was held in London and participants of Barclays ATP
Tour Finals including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer attended the event and managed to raise more than £400,000.
It was an official launch to the year-end grand finale where Brit Award winner KT Tunstall gave a live performance that delighted the attendants. The tournament that will be played in London, O2 Arena from November 20-27 managed
to raise considerable amount that will help the heart and lung patients of Ormond Street Hospital that are not able to pay-off their dues to lack of finances.
Roger Federer was one of the showstoppers that participated in the tournament. While talking to media representative, he proclaimed, “I'm very happy to be here tonight, and I'm proud to qualify for the season-ending event for a
10th time. We have a great group of players this year and it’s fantastic to have this launch party. It’s something new and it’s for a great cause. It’s very nice to see that the ATP and the players have come together to support charity tonight.”
Special auctions were placed in the event and people paid huge prices to help the patients of the hospital. British No.1, Andy Murray, also bought a pendant valued £18,519 for the cause of charity. Another pendant was also sold
for the same price as well, so it was a good positive objective that yielded fruitful returns for the organizers of the tournament and gathered reasonable funds for the patients.
Moët & Chandon also auctioned their unique gold-leaf Methuselah that had signatures of world’s best tennis icons plus an opportunity to spent holidays at one of the most prestigious resorts, the Moët & Chandon château in Epernay,
France.
Another ticket contained the opportunity to meet World No.1, Novak Djokovic, at the world most esteemed sporting arena, O2 Arena, London plus some tickets to visit that place during Barclays ATP Tour Finals.
There were many more things auctioned that helped the organisers to achieve their objective of collecting funds for poor and needy patients. Gift hampers and tea session with Moët & Chandon and classy model Kate Moss were some
of the other stuff that was auctioned during the event.
It was an event that was organised for good purpose and these kinds of events should be held on regular purposes to help those people that are deprived of basic necessities.
