16th Asian Games golf tournament: Miguel Tabuena rules the top in R2
The 16th Asian Games golf tournament is currently being held at the Guangzhou and has Young Miguel Tabuena at the top and the PH golf team in the second place in the second round of the event.
According to latest reports, Tabuena played a remarkable game that matched his opening round score of 68. The 4 under par thus collected managed to keep the golfer happy as he held onto his 1 stroke lead.
The much talked about event is currently being played at the Dragon Lake Golf Club and witnessed the sixteen year old golfer a score of 136 in total. The young golfer held a small lead over Kim Meen-whee and thus collected a seven under par. The golfer from Philippines thus recorded a 33 with a 3 under against the South Korean golfer at his back nine at the GC.
As far as Kim Meen-whee is concerned, he has a margin of 17 strokes between him and the victory. The South Korean carded a brilliant 68 and 137 in total that was adorned with one magnificent birdie at the last 18th hole.
According to Tommy Manotoc who is the PH men's coach, Tabuena defines what their tournament has been all about. He said that for a sixteen year old, Tabuena managed to display a highly mature game and is thus the star performer of the event in his eyes. The coach further defined Tabuena’s game and described that he reached almost all the fairways he played as well as the greens while the putts just easily dropped.
Among other R2 performers, Rashid Khan from India stood at the third place and carded a 68 too. Jerson Balasabas scored a massive 74 whereas Mark Fernando and Carlos Marcel Puyat carded a 75 of the national champion and thus managed to display a 217 at the leader boards.
Manotoc believes that the team is working hard and said that their goal is to hold a gold medal in their hands.
“We will continue to keep on fighting”, Manotoc said.
From the women's team, the results weren't that satisfactory as the team slipped 12 notches below the Korean leader at the event. The PH women's golf team dropped due to the 18 over it carded after its struggle.
One 74, a 75 and a 76 was attained by the female golfers Mia Piccio, Chichiro Ikeda and Dottie Ardina in R2 of The 16th Asian Games golf tournament.
