Question:

16th Birthday Dinner in DC?

I'm turning 16 on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) and my parents are taking me out to dinner. They are totally willing to take me somewhere fancier, even somewhere where there is a formal dress code. We live in the Washinton DC area.

I'll just be me and my parents. I want there to be a warm atmosphere, a little quieter so we can talk. I love trying new things, so the type of food doesn't matter to me. I do think it would be fun, however, to go to a Mexica-inspired place as my birthday is Cinco de Mayo.

I'm open to pretty much anything. Does anyone know any places with amazing food and a great atmosphere that I can spend a special birthday dinner with my parents?

Thanks.

  1. Just so you don't feel neglected of the joke..Good Mexican go to Taco Bell!  Just kidding

    In Arlington I would recommend

    Guajillo Mexican Cuisine

    1727 Wilson Blvd

    Arlington, VA 22209

They have great Ceviche and Guacamole cool place.  Next door is Ray's Steaks and if you and your folks love steaks it is an interesting place to take note of.

In Glover Park on Wisconsin near Whole Foods is Cerviche, pretty trendy place and should meet all your requirements quiet and fun food.

  2. Oceanaire-- really good Seafood

    Jaleo-- Spanish inspired (Tapas)

    Mexican restaurants:

Rosa Mexicana and Lauriol Plaza are both good.

There are a lot of great restaurants around the Verizon Center in the Chintatown area, Georgetown area (near waterfront), and Dupont.

  3. Rosa Mexicano-

I'm in love with this place. Its right off of the chinatown metro stop.  It's upscale and mexican.  They make avacado dip fresh right there in front of your face, like cut up the avocados! Best food and good atmosphere.

The Palm- expensive, high end, dressy.

    Have a good birthday!

  4. Try Matchbox near Chinatown. It can get quite busy but the restaurant itself is very nice. Very chill and laid back, casual place.

Also, look into Mongolian BBQ in Bethesda, MD. Nice quiet atmosphere and the food is pretty good too.

  5. The cheesecake factory, they have one at Mazza Gallery, one at White Flint mall, fabulous food, good and cozy atmosphere you'll love it.
