I'm turning 16 in the summer and I wanted to know if there are any good places to have dinner on a saturday with about 20 guests in Manhattan. I'm a vegetarian, and so are some of mi friends, so places with a lot of good vegetarian food would be good.

  1. I'm not a vegetarian, but a vegetarian friend of mine took me to Zen Palate in Union Square (there are others Zen Palates around Manhattan including one in h**l's Kitchen).

They make Asian influenced vegetarian food exclusively and they prepare tofu, seitan and wheat gluten so well, most meat eaters won't know they're not eating meat.

Some items do contain eggs or milk products but these are clearly marked on the menus for vegans.

I have been back there many times since.

Oh and by the way if you're going to bring 20 people into any restaurant in Manhattan, it's best to make a reservation, not many places can accommodate that many people with no advance notice.

Also be aware that many Manhattan restaurants automatically include the tip in your check if you have 6 or more guests (usually 15-20%).  It should be clear on the tab when you get it, but it's something to be mindful of.

  2. attached  is a link to a list of vegetarian restaurant in NYC. However with such a large party you more than likely have to call ahead and make special arrangements.

  4. New York City is very vegetarian-friendly, so don't fret!

Personally, I'd recommend Candle Cafe, Counter, Blossom, or VegBistro.  They're multi-awarded, and their food is so good, even non-vegetarians love them!

Happy birthday in advance!  Enjoy your party!
