I'm only inviting 25 people and they have to be close to me. I'm inviting a mix of family and friends.

What can I have planned for this party... like what can we do! I want it to be more like a mature kind of party. I'm gonna have a Middle-Eastern-Indian type theme with dark covers and the little see-through curtains...It's gonna be so cute.

What food can I bring/make? I don't want the casual soda, chips and hot dogs...etc.

I need more type of foods that are a little high priced and taste really good.

And I'm in Chicago, so some good chicago dishes would be good to reccomend!

  1. Miss has a great idea, with serving indian food and being in chicago you can probably buy take out and serve it kind of as a mini buffet.

Im not familiar with the proper drinks, but Im sure where ever you get your food from can suggest so ideas.

Also, lots of bigh throw pillows for the floor for seating, and maybe you could find a belly dancing video and get the guest to give it a try. Or maybe get a real indian dancer for the evening to entertain guest and get them involved.

Incense would be a nice touch also, but you'd have tp be careful of guests with allergies.

It sounds like you have a great idea, and be sure to follow the link that Miss mentioned.  You might even suggest to your invites that it's a theme party and ask them to come dressed to fit the theme.

Also have a video camera set up on tripod that captures a specific heavy traffic area or place where most will gather.  It will be so much fun to watch afterwards, plus you will have a great momento for your party!

Good luck and have lots of fun,  Jackie b

  2. jour dourves baby ! the more the better ! sushi,  stuffed mushrooms !  anything stuffed pastries !!!

a chocolate fountain!! with the works fruits and marshmallows !  and mixed virgin drinks with a bar and a bartender attached ! that way you can mingle and be the belle of the ball !

  3. Well if you want middle eastern intdian themes, then can i suggest indian foods?

Samosas are great! and so are curry puffs

    http://indianfood.about.com/od/snacks/tp... has some great foods.

Instead of coke and lemonade, have a punch and non alchoholic martinis etc

I'm not from chicago, so I can't help with that I'm affraid.. hope I've helped a bit though.

  4. For beverages you could go with some home made punches, lemonades, and fruit drinks.

For food and desserts go for the finer things, like small stuffed mushrooms, stuffed peppers, small eggplant and/or chicken salad finger sandwiches.

chocolate covered cherries, strawberries, and blueberries make for delicious desserts or small cake cups, like instead of cupcakes you fill the cupcake pan with key lime pie mixes and top it with whip cream, etc.

  5. Being you want to do a Middle Eastern Theme, how about doing a Morracan theme?

You can decorate in pinks, purples, and golds.  I LOVE the idea of big throw pillows on the floor and incense, that is very Morrocan.  You can get some gold lanterns or any color and spray paint them gold and put some battery operated candles in them.

I also like the idea of a belly dancing video to teach you and your friends how to belly dance.  That's a good activity for the party.

You can have it so everything is low to the floor.  Get some fabric in the gold, pink, and purple colors and drape them around the room.

For food you would have to check online what is Moraccan, I'm not familiar with the food and I'm not familiar with the Chicago area to help you with food from there, I'm sorry! I'm from NY.  I would tell you Pizza, but that won't help you!

You can serve different teas which is very Moraccan.

Do a search online for Morraccan food and see what comes up.  I'm sorry I can't be more of a help, but I hope some of these ideas help.  Happy Birthday sweet 16!
