Hey all.. so now it's my turn to freak out hehehh...l so I finally got my BFP on saturday with FMU and that was 17 DPO. It was with a dollar store brand and positive even before the 3 minutes. The second line was pink so not an evap line. However just because I had another test and because I wanted to see the positive again I tested the next day. This was not my very first morning urine but I had not had a lot of fluid intake. It barely showed a second line.. I mean you really had to look at 3 minutes!!! Then today got a first response and waited close to 4 hours as it was not my FMU and tested with an even fainter line.. again had to really look. I know that these do not test how preggy you are and it depends on the dye. I've already told my friends and family lol and been nauseous, very tired, sore b*****s and all that (though not as sore today). This is my 35th day of my cycle. The doc did not test me as that's not how they do it with Kaiser but instead set up my first prenatal for September. She said as of tomorrow I will be 5 weeks. Should I be concerned? I have another First Response and was planning on taking it first thing tomorrow but what is going on? With our daughter it was positive no questions asked lol. Anyone get different answers? I don't mean testing positive after negatives but rather the opposite?

  1. you are probably pregnant but just dont have enough HCG to test with a strong positive. i say give it another 3 days and test again or go to the doctor for a blood test

  2. if all of the test are showing BFP's then that's what it is,may be from you being all excited and steady peeing(LOL) it's making it lighter, but just as long as it does'nt read BFN then you are good. Congratulations :>)

  3. First of all, I hope you start seeing unambiguous BFPs soon!

However, in general, and this is an answer I really don't WANT to give, fading bfp's means a "chemical pregnancy" - a miscarriage due to the pregnancy not really "taking" for whatever reason.  If that's the case, you might start a "period" in a few days that you would then know wasn't a period but a super-early miscarriage.

BUT if the circumstances are different each time you test, there's a chance you could just not have a strong enough concentration of hcg in your urine, and you may start seeing darker bfp's soon.

If it helps at all, in our grandmothers' time, when they didn't have all these super-early home tests, they had chemical pregnancies just the same as we do now, but didn't know they were really miscarriages... just figured their period was a few days late one month, for whatever reason.

It's always sad to lose a baby, even if it's very early on.  I hope you find some answers soon.  :-)

  4. It could just be the dye from the tests not showing the answer very well but it maybe a chemical pregnancy.  These often show a clear positive that eventually dissappears to nothing.  I suggest that you explain your worries to the doctor and ask him if he will check if the amount of hcg in your system is rising or falling.  If it is rising you have nothing to worry about if it is falling the doctor will give you the best advice.

Good luck and loads and loads of sticky baby dust being sent your way
