17 women cricketers get PCB central contracts for year 2012 – Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket Board’s Women Wing on Tuesday announced the Women Players Central Contract list for the year 2012. Seventeen women players have been granted central contracts, reducing the number from last year's pool of 19.
Six players have been awarded A category central contracts while five players have been placed in B category and six have been granted C category central contracts.
Fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Qanita-Jalil-c82844 is the new addition in Category A, as she has been elevated from B-grade. Right-handed batsman Sania Iqbal Khan, who missed out on a contract last year due to an injury, has been recalled and placed in category
C.
The 2011 contract holders who missed out this year included http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kainat-Imtiaz-c69988 and Areeb Shamaim.
Three players earning their first ever 12-month contract with the PCB include Sania Iqbal http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asmavia-Iqbal-c46564 and Mariam Hassan Shah.
Exclusion of Masooma Junaid and Elizebath Khan came as a big surprise for Pakistan cricket circles as both the players have been in a good nick of late, and are also part of the squad scheduled to tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 next week.
PCB women wing's manager, Ayesha Ashar, told media persons that they have picked the best possible women cricketers and hoped the players will live up to the hopes of the selectors and fans.
"We have picked up the best possible 17 women cricketers for the contracts," Ayesha Ashar, PCB women wing's manager, told ESPNcricinfo.
"Those who are left out shouldn't be discouraged and should try to win back the top contact by performing well. Contracts are meant to reward players who are consistent and contributing significantly at domestic and internationally,"
she added further.
The next assignment of Women in Green is the tri-series in Ireland, commencing on August 18. The series will also feature http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013
