  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_fict...

Tried to find you more gothic poets of those eras than Edgar Allan Poe, who you probably know already, but in Wiki only find an entry for gothic fiction, with various types and authors during your centuries mentioned, including Poe, and including, no doubt, more poets who also wrote fiction.

Suggest you follow the link above, take down a few names that ring a bell in your memory or seem promising, and look them up, either through Wiki or Google.

Sorry I don't have a nice list for you. It's late here and I have to quit this too soon to do proper research for you.

Best of luck. (Please use the link above for starters. I'm interested, but too tired to do this right.)

ADD: Romeo and Juliet is tragedy, not gothic poetry. You probably know that, too.

  2. Anything by Poe would certainly qualify. I'd also recommend Rimbaud and Baudelaire, esp. The Flowers of Evil.

  3. Romeo and Julia,W.Sh.

  5. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge is a Gothic poem written in the 18th century (1797-98).

Another one by Samuel Taylor Coleridge is Christabel - also from the 18th century.

The Beautiful Lady without Pity (or La Belle Dame Sans Merci) by John Keats could be considered a Gothic poem, written in the 19th century (1819).

Then there is Edgar Allan Poe - also 19th century - like The Raven, Spirits of the Dead and others.

Though I'm not sure they would be considered true Gothic poems, I think some of Emily Bronte's poems have a certain Gothic element to them. You can read some of them http://www.online-literature.com/bronte/ here.
