18 Million Cracks in the Glass Ceiling

It was obvious anyway, but became beat-you-over-the-head-with-a-two-by-fou... obvious when Palin referenced the ‘glass ceiling’ line, that this choice is a blatant pander to women. I would like to believe that women will actually feel insulted by this. Yes, it would have been historic if Hillary had gotten the nomination. It was historic that she made it as far as she did. Yes, it would be great to have a woman in the oval office, or in the VP slot if they are the right woman…a woman who got there with her own drive, grit, determination, intelligence, skill and merits. When you’re hand-picked by a man to win votes simply because you are a woman, that doesn’t count, and it doesn’t break any kind of ceiling. Would we have had a Stan Palin as our VP pick? No. So choosing a woman because you think her gender will get votes is insulting

  1. And you think Hillary would have gotten where she was if she hadn't been Bill's wife? I found THAT to be HIGHLY insulting!

  2. Honestly, I think this is a sign of how few of the high caliber candidates were interested.

  3. It is obvious to me that you are an Obama fan.  What is good for him is not good for anyone else?

He who is the biggest panderer of them all.. and you dare accuse her.  and so what if she is.  There are a lot of Women out there who do not like Obama for the callous way he treated Hillary.. and they may very well  vote Palin.

Obama's camp, you included ,are just afraid that there may be just enough people realize that there is an alternative.. and the McCain - Palin ticket looks pretty good.

I am a lifelong Democrat but will vote for the man who isn't afraid of a strong woman.

And just for the record.. as a woman.. I am far from insulted.. I was more insulted when Obama and the DNC cheated Hillary out of her rightful place.. it was like they said.. " you are not good enough"

And you are insulted because you think so lowly of a woman!

  4. Beautifully said. I couldn't agree with you more.

  5. And how exactly did Hillary work for it? Married a political ambitious adulterer, took advantage of her husband's connection to secure a job in a law firm, used her husband's position as president as a platform to express her own opinions and wield power, walked practically uncontested into a Senate seat in a state where she never held residency beforehand, and then ran for the presidency eight years after her husband left office, only serving in the Senate for one and one-third of a term, expecting that she should be handed the nomination because she paid her dues by standing back as her husband was in the limelight.

Oh yeah, she really worked for it.

Palin managed to go from mayor of a small little town to Governor of Alaska with a 90+% approval rating. She's incredibly articulate and principled, and I like her better than almost all the other candidates because she worked as a whistle blower and in ethics reform.

  6. I am still weighing in on his pick.  Need to do more checking on her before coming to any conclusions.

  7. Just to help you out... Hillary got there because she was married to Bill. That is the only reason.
