Question:

18 Tennessee loses to unranked UCLA...?

...is that a good example of "SEC speed" or "SEC Dominance"? All week long the Vols were saying how they were glad that they were "underrated" being at #18 (Yahoo! ran an article with their coach where he said they were happy to be "flying under the radar"). Then they go play a middle-of-the-pack Pac 10 team, who has a new coach, new quarter back, AND practically gift wrapped the game for them (4 interceptions! 3 in the first quarter alone...), and they lose....is that what's to be expected of the SEC this year? Can we all finally agree that the SEC is nothing special, and is, for all intents & purposes, an average conference. Can't wait to see what happens to Georgia vs ASU!...

  1. I love this.

As a USC fan I have been tired of hearing about the "SEC greatness".  I don't want to hear it anymore, USC, UCLA, and Cal have all beat SEC teams the last 4 years, and ASU will beat Georgia on the 20th.  The PAC 10 owns the SEC.

  2. I am a SEC fan; however, I agree that UCLA had a great performance against Tennessee.  UCLA deserves credit for their accomplishments, Tennessee had their opportunities to put them away, but didn't execute.  PAC-10 wins round 1.  On to round 2, Georgia vs. ASU!

  3. That was a great game last nite. What a bounce-back from Craft. I wanted TENN to lose cuz now that'll help PSU go up a little higher in the top 25!

  4. Yeah, the SEC is overrated this year.  Going 10-2 in the first week is horrible.  How could anyone put the SEC in the top 25 with wins against #9 Clemson, Hawaii, Memphis, & NC St.

You are judging the entire SEC over 1 game that is over 2000 mi away.  A game that was decided by a field goal in OT.  Don't judge an entire conference & season over 1 game.

Edit:  I didn't judge anybody last year.  I take things for what they are.

  5. UCLA came back with most of there key starters from last year. New Head Coach or not the man knows how to run the game and last night he proved it. Tennessee were suppose to be the underrated SEC team? No that title belongs to Alabama. The vols had a new starting qb for the first time in four years. Plus there kicker missed 3 of 5 field goals last night. They could have been 27-24 if he had made the first two field goals. Look you cant say anythin for either team since its the first game of the season and it was a close margin. UCLA is a Pac-10 contender. You make it sound like there not that great. Give them some credit.

  6. That was one of the worst games I've ever seen. I'm a Vols fan, but they should be embarrassed to lose that game. No way they are the 18th ranked team in the country.

  7. LOL...this is especially funny after all the trash talking from SEC fans last week.  I still stand by my statement that the national champion will not be from the SEC this year.  I just don't think Georgia has what it takes.

  8. Even though i generally pull for all SEC  teams (Im a Bama fan).  I can never lower myself to the level of pulling for Tennessee.... im glad they lost plus it will help Bama move up in the rankings with their dominating performance over the team that is (WAS) supposed to win the ACC this year...

Im Glad we didnt hear Rocky Top playing after that game....

  9. I'm not one to talk smack between conferences usually, but I am an SEC fan.  I grew up on Tennessee football, and despite the p**s-poor performance they turned out last night still carry my allegiance there.

However, before you go talking about how the SEC is nothing special and that the PAC-10 is now the conference to beat, look at who the PAC-10 played this week.  That's right - aside from UCLA, no one had a game that wasn't a cakewalk team.  You're a fool if you actually believe that UCLA beat Tennessee last night.  Tennessee beat Tennesee last night.

Let's review again at mid-season and see how well the Pac-10 is doing at that point.
