  1. It isn't. Cable length results in signal loss, not that much, but the longer the cable, the more the loss.

    Antenna length is what is crucial, and for CB band, the 1/4 wavelength is 102". That is usually accomplished with a wound antenna.

    I don't know where you got the 18' length, but I'm not buying it, and I've been working aircraft radio systems for over 30 years.
