okay so heres the problem... my friend likes running a lot so she's gone jogging every weekend and lost a lot of weight... she just turned 18 shes still a virgin so definitely not pregnant... she went to the doctor and the doctor told her that she just needs to gain a few pounds and stopped jogging.. SHe did as her doctor told her and so she stopped jogging and about a month ago she gained the pounds that she needed to gain. Her period has stillnot come. What does this mean? Is there anything she can do for her period to come?

  1. she should continue to exercise less and eat healthy and if the period does not come in the next month or so, the doctor will know what to do next. the best thing she did was talking to the doctor since too much exercise and weight loss can cause health problems like these.

  2. Sometimes when you're really active or have a change in food, exercise, stress level, etc. your period won't come for awhile. It's not too abnormal but if she still hasn't gotten it in a month or two, she might want to go back to the doctor.

  3. try making her see the doctor and telling the doctor this story.

    or.....

on the other hand, she COULD be pregnant.

trust me, honey. pregnancy can happen in SO many different ways.

  4. She needs to keep her weight consistent and at the level her doctor recommends. It will probably take a few months before the period  comes back because her body needs to adjust and realize it's okay.

  5. sometymes, rapid weight gain or loss can delay a persons periiod

  6. Go back to the doctor. It will probably take longer for the inner body to recuperate then the outer.Blessings Yahoo

  7. Sometimes your diet and other stuff affects your period.  Is she on some kind of diet?

  8. was she not eating correctly> because sometimes anorexia can cause a lack of period because you deprive your body of essential nutrients and your body can stop having its period. make sure she goes to her doctor about this because she needs to be checked out.

  9. She needs to go back and see her doctor again.

  10. I can tell you that my daughter is very skinny and she has a very long time between periods. My guess is that the doctor had told her that by having such a low body fat content it was affecting your cycle. This is common among very athletic women. It might not have answered what she can do but just a furthur explanation and pointing out that she is not the only person that this type of thing happens too.

  11. Hm. A friend of mine had some hormone problems that kept her period from coming evenly, and would often go six months with no period. They put her on birth control, and that helped her out.

Exercises and excessive weight loss can definitely effect the menstrual cycle, though.

Perhaps she should go back to her doctor or get a second opinion. There is really nothing you can do to "make" your period come - without a prescription.

  12. my sister has an irregular period also but only 2 months. i suggest she consults an OB-GYNE. my sis was ask to have pelvic ultrasound and blood test to rule out the cause. better have it check right away than later.
