My 18 year old cat hind legs started to have mobility problems starting 2 weeks ago. They slowly got worse until now she can't use more than to stretch and clean them. Then vet did every test he could think of and found nothing. He suggested taking her to an experimental MRI at NC State vet college. Has anyone ever seen this before.

  1. We've seen that at our clinic, usually it's due to diabetes or a kidney related problem (both of which I'm sure your doctor tested for).

Sorry to hear about your cat's problems...hope everything works out for you both.

  2. Your cat is 18 that's a very old age, my cat who was 21 has just recently passed away and she didn't have use of her back legs because she just went lame and stiff with old age and arthritis.

  3. Did the vet do a full blood test?  There's something about potassium or magnesium levels causing hind end paralysis problems in cats.  The blood test would show where the body's chemical makeup is going off key for that.
