It was deposited there by some or one of earth's subterranean upheavals.  Formed into veins in the early days of the earth's cooling, it is thought that such minerals originate in solar (stellar) cooking and some that escape the solar inferno and eruption can settle on planets such as ours.  Such lodes are found randomly throughout the globe.
