18th birthday party, i want a themed fancy dress party....?

the problem is i have to invite my family, like aunts uncles, nan ect. and they won't want to join in will they?

everyone could where one colour say white

and you wear another colour say red

I think it depends on how you work the theme.  They're grown ups, I'm sure they have suits and evening gowns, if that's what you mean.  Two themes I can suggest: Puttin' on the Ritz- very glam 1950'-60's Hollywood, or just call it a black tie event. As long as you have a DJ, it'll still be fun.

Try and do something where they could go all out or just something minor. As they were probably all around in the 80s, they could enjoy that as a theme.

We had a Disney party once. It was mainly kids, but there was a large amount of adults there too. Most of them did well. Some went all out with things like a big Tigger costume, and some just got involved by wearing things like Mickey Mouse ears. And of cause there were the party poopers who didnt dress up. You would just have to ignore that though.

More fun themes are TV/Movies, superheroes, Hollywood (dress as celebrities), or you could have a letter. If its 'B' people could come as butchers, bellydancers... If its 'S' people could come as school teachers, students, salespeople... Let peoples imaginations go wild!

Another idea is playing a game once everyone has arrived. Have a big bag full of dress up clothes. Everyone sits in a circle, and like pass the parcel, the music plays and when it stops the person holding the bag pulls something out. It keeps going until the bag is empty. Everyone ends up in crazy costumes.

I would make it a hollywood ritz event. That's what I did and everyone dressed up(even my great grandparents) HTH!

I think it depends on your family!  My family would do it but one or two party poopers wouldn't.  You could do a theme they would appreciate like the 20's or 70's.  :)
