19.2 scope 2 i work with autistic children how do i write this as evidence when none of them will estimate?

In the nvq3 19.2 scope 2 says to help pupils understand and use space shape and measure, to estimate,measure and compare lengths, masses and capacities, how do i show that i support this when my students do not understand estimate/guess? would love some help thanks x

  1. I have a 9 yr old daughter who has autism.  She always gets the "estimating" questions wrong because she absolutely won't do it. The numbers are right there, why guess?  I understand your delima here, but I think you're looking at it too literally.

    You can do estimating with space, shape and measure.  Think about it, you  have two lines, one longer than the other. Ask which line is longer.  Without actually getting out the ruler, they would be estimating. Same with shapes and spaces.  Capacity...a large glass, a tiny toy cup. Which has the greater capacity.  Again, you're not actually measuring it, so you would have to be estimating.    You show that you're supporting these concepts by using visuals and hands on techniques so the child learns the various concepts.
