Hi,my cat minnie just had 2 kittens 19 days ago.

Both kittens had their eyes open and were looking fine.

Then yesterday one of the kittens eye had a little goop that was hard under it.I cleaned it off since there was only a little and thought nothing more of it.Then this morning i came to cheek on them and saw that the kitten's eye was shut and had crust that healed over it.

It is saturday and unfortunately no vets are open for the little kitty.Only one of it's eyes are heals over they other eye looks fine. The 2 kitten's eyes are open and is doing well. Is it an eye infection?what should i do?Please somebody help me!

  1. Theres a good chance that the kittens may be developing an upper respiratory infection.  Their sinuses get plugged and they develop whats called "Sticky Eye" The eyes leak a thick white to yellowish discharge which can glue the eye shut.  The closed lid itself won't damage the eye but sticky eye can render the cat blind from infection.

With warm water gently soak the eye open. Only work for about 5-10 minutes at a time.  The crust will eventually thin out and wipe away.  Take kittens and mom to the vet and have them checked out.

Make sure you keep the eyes clean check on them every few hours and if you see any goop wipe it away before it becomes a problem.

  2. well you need to take it to a vet or some where that can help take care of it. and it could be an eye infection. i would have it checked out. i hope i helped.

  3. it might just be eye goop it really ist fused shut the mom should clean if off and you really should't mess with her kitts but if you HAVE to the take a soft cloth get it damp with warm water and lightly clean it
