  1. Sometimes you know people didn't tell the census taker the exact truth about their ages for one reason or another. I have many who have done that in my tree, also they have told the census taker that they are from somewhere els other than the place they give.

I have found a Frank Stockdale from Bermondsey in the 1901 census, as working as a kitchen porter in Southwark. This is the info, but age given to the enumerator was born 1875.

This is the only Frank Stockdale I can find for that year who was born in Bermondsey.

  4. Sorry 1901 Census lists 13 Frank Stockdales but none of them fit with your information. The transcriptions for the census returns are not all complete or accurate, so he is possibly out there somewhere !!

It is quite possible that this is the Frank that you are searching for. It was quite common for the enumerator to change  ages and name spellings. It was common practice for the age or birth year to be rounded off to the nearest five. He may even have misheard what was being told to him or for the household representative to have mixed up everyones details.

    Hope this helps.
