1915-19 mean ranger fixed gear questions and truvativ cranks which BB?

i just bought a mean ranger racer frame set... the headset does not fit that i have.. and neither do the cups from my schwin frame.... which size headset do i need? i want to put my truvativ cranks on it but which BB do i need? and will they fit if i get an adapter?

  1. There are 3 different and incompatible headset types- integral, zero stack, and external. You'll need to check with the frame maker to find out which you need. Nobody can tell you without actually seeing the frame unless you know someone else that has one.

    I am pretty sure that if your new frame is a fixed gear model it will probably require a standard BSC threaded bottom bracket compatible with your crank arms. If the frame bottom bracket is large diameter and NOT threaded it may have been intended for an "American" bottom bracket and yes- you can get special cups and spindles for it.

    EDIT: You mean a MEAD Ranger bicycle, not a MEAN Ranger, right? This bike can't be upgraded with modern parts. In those days most bike companies had their own styles and sizes of things. I would be surprised if anything modern fits that bike.
