The main point is that the beauty of the parties, the people, the food, the money, are all masks for the corruption that was prevalent in the twenties. would you agree of disagree with this statement?

  1. Not necessarily. Although prohibition was the law in the United States at least, I don't think society was particularly corrupt.  I would instead see urban/suburban society of the 1920s as sort of the calm before the storm of the Great Depression and World War II. Rural society in the US was already suffering during the 20s thanks to a decade-long drought that devastated agriculture. Even considering the scandals of the Harding administration, the Coolidge administration was noted for being scandal-free and for the most part, cleanly-run.

  2. Not true. It was more because people were fed-up with the circumstances of the Great War (WW I) and wanted to have fun again.

  3. I completely agree. People were so wild in that time period to break away from the bonds that were holding them in the first decade of the century. They did everything in their power to do the OPPOSITE of what was once expected of them, obviouslyly, causing chaos and corruption that was articulately masked as fun and beauty.

  4. not a lot different than america today

  5. In which country?

I am sure nothing mentioned in the question applied to Germany...
