1934 $20 bill???

i have a 1934 $20 bill... how do i find out if its real or not....

does the "hold in the light" trick work with these old bills?

    Seriously though, $20s should have a metal strip in them. So if you hold it in the light, you should see a little strip in there.


  2. take it to the bank ...but dont trade it in...a bill from 1934 wouldnt have a security strip in it ..

  3. Mylar threads did not become part of US banknotes until Series 1990, and watermarks were not incorporated until Series 1996.

    For older banknotes such as yours, examine the paper carefully. Genuine banknotes have red and blue threads embedded in the paper. You can also give it the test with the counterfeit detector pen.
