    Winged Liberty Head (Mercury) (1916–1945)

1936 Winged Liberty Head (Mercury) dime

1936 Winged Liberty Head (Mercury) dime

Although most commonly referred to as the Mercury dime, the coin does not depict the Roman messenger god. The obverse figure is a depiction of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, a classic symbol of liberty and freedom, with its wings intended to symbolize freedom of thought. Designed by noted sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, the Winged Liberty Head dime is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful U.S. coin designs ever produced.[4] The composition (90 percent silver, 10 percent copper) and diameter (17.9 millimeters) of the Mercury dime was unchanged from the Barber dime.

i would put them on ebay to sell also check ebay   for price check  there are coin books you can  buy that well have the price  of the coins  don't get ripped off it easy to do when selling coins was checking ebay  just one coin can go for 4 buck on up

  4. They are Winged Liberty Head or more commonly called Mercury dimes. The dimes from 1940-1945 are quite common due to World War II a lot were need at that time so were minted. They are silver however and are worth around 7 to 8 times face value. As silver is going up they will be worth more in the future. I am surprised that 4000 of them are all dated between 1940-1945. I would check for other dates as some of them are scarce and one very rare it is the 1916-D. If the coins have a mint mark they are on the side with the Fasces, that is the strange looking thing on the reverse. The mint mark is at the bottom right of it. Hope this helps. The coins can be sold to a coin dealer, if you do this talk to more than one dealer.
