  1. ask the VFW to get involved with 40s era uniforms, color guard etc.

they may also be able to bring an old jeep or something that could be interesting as a background for photos.

  2. I had a friend that went a little 40's for her wedding. Her man rented a 40's style zootsuit and hat from Mr. Neats. I thought that was really different, yet it still looked stylish.

As her cake topper, they used one of those pics where they dress you up old fashioned and the pic is old looking.

You could do that with some of your pics and put a sepia tone on them. Almost all photo editing has that now.

  3. Hello first of all congrats!

I just wanted to let you know if you are interested in chair covers or sashes to add to your wedding reception. I rent these for $1.00 a piece! I have over 30 colors! I also sell tablecloths, vases, gems, lights, invitations, favors, pretty much anything you can use to decorate and plan your wedding! Feel free to contact me at vividfuji@yahoo.com! Happy Planning!

  4. thats cool i am having a 1920s wedding theme (the gangster era)

    1940s

Due to WWII rationing, women often got married in their best dress, so the look for a '40s themed bride and her attendants is understated and tailored. Consider stockings with seams for women and streamlined, single-breasted suits for men. Bridesmaids might wear dresses with sweetheart necklines and three-quarter length sleeves, and small 'crown' hats with short veils attached.

For your reception, think swing. You may even want to consider a few dance lessons at the start of the party so that everyone can get up and dance. This was a great era for music and your guests can dance the night away to musicians like Frank Sinatra and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Favors might include a CD of big band music or, for a more whimsical feel, a ration or two of yummy chocolates complete with strict instructions not to hoard.
