1962 packers vs 1985 bears

What? The Packers existed before Brett Favre? You'd never know it from all the media coverage lately.

Man, that's a tough one. The Bears' defense was so dominant, but the Packers were balanced on both sides of the ball, plus they had one of the greatest QBs of all time and THE greatest football coach ever. The Packers win in a squeaker, 17-16.

Bears. This would be a massacre. With the Bears defense, the Packers would be lucky to cross midfield.

Crossing generations is always difficult.  The Bears' athletes were far superior in terms of speed and strength.  Just as those Bears pale before the monsters in the NFL.  In 1962 there were no 300 lb linemen, no speedsters like Gault, etc.  The Packers might have been better coached but physically they would be mauled.

They had one of the greatest RBs in the history of fooball (Walter) and one of the greatest defenses to ever exist in football.  Not to mention, McMahon was pretty good at that time.  People forget how truely dominating that defense was, they are the only team in the history of football to shut out every team they played in the playoffs on the way to the superbowl, then the won the superbowl by 36 points.  Can you imagine a defense being able to allow only 10 points for the entire playoffs against the best teams in football that year?  The 62 packers were a great team, but no as dominating as the 85 bears.  There reg season record was not as good, they averaged less points a game on offense and allowed more points a game on defense.  People also forget the bears offense scored the 2nd most points in football that year behind only the Patriots (the team they played in the superbowl).

It is always hard to cross generations, but its got to be the 85 bears.
