Question:

1966 Silver penny-is it worth something?

I posted this question a few days ago and got a really good answer back, but I had the years wrong. The penny is a 1966 silver penny, can it be worth anything? I can't tell if it's been dipped in acid or not. My daughter is hoping that the mint forgot to coat it so that it can be worth something.

  1. The US Mint produced 2,188,147,783 cents. From 1962-1982 the weight is 3.11 grams; composition  .950 copper, .050 zinc, I believe you have a replated coin. A novelty item.


  2. Penny are mostly made of Zinc so one year the USA was realy in debt so they decided to make money by not painting to pennys

    Yes it is worth alot but more if you have lots they where only made in one year at a spefic time
