That was the year following the "Hong-Kong Flu"! The first year in our new house. My first year at my new school, and the Summer when my Dad got a 'new' car.

It was a Summer of exploration in my new surroundings, and trying to make new friends.  My Sister took a fancy to the lad next door - and eventually married him.

Dad dug a big pond in our back garden, and we (kids) used it as a sort of "water playpen".

That Winter was one of power cuts, three day working week, and petrol rationing.  We (kids) would sneak out in the dark of a power cut to forage for wood to burn on the fire to keep us warm in the long Winter evenings!

Oh dear,  those WERE the days!!!
