  1. Neither, really-from the point of view of most people.  The concern was more about rampant pollution, filthy water, air that was unfit to breathe, rapacious use of resources, careless discarding of trash.  Climate change wasn't well understood or in the news all that much except for the concern about nuclear winter, and even that was way down the list compared to just trying to clean up the environment.  Most skeptics today put WAY too much emphasis on the 'global cooling' theory of the 1970s.  Probably the most sophisticated environmental issue in terms of scientific theory that was discussed in the mainstream was the use of CFCs.

  2. Cooling. And I remember the same nut jobs saying it was the fault of humans. It is so phony that it makes me sick.

  3. global warming is not real and i never heard of global cooling!

  4. My answer is;

    It was cooling. The fear was we were Blocking out the Sun with pollutions.

    The planet is going to do what the Planet is going to do. We can complicate the ability for life on this 3rd rock from the sun. But the Planet itself will decide when it has enough plastic. Which is something it didn't have before. And, when that day finally does come.

    The planet will shake Humans off like a Bad Case of blood sucking  Fleas.  (George Carlin, not a direct quote)

    Hope my answer helps

  5. Yep, I remember it.  It was global cooling, overpopulation, nuclear  winter, same old c**p as today.  Same people, too.

    Then came ozone depletion, UV poisoning, Y2K, chicken plague, etc.

    The Chicken Littles never stop whining.

    Going back to the 70"s the air really was bad, I mean real bad.  Eye watering, sinus pain all the time in LA.  Big ugly cloud over Denver and Phoenix.  All that had been fixed.  The Greenies have run out of real problems and just make things up now, how sad.

    Funny though, the ones that were screaming save the seals then are  screaming save the polar bears so they can eat the seals now.
