1971 Mercury Outboard 80hp Motor, No Spark, Will not Start?

I have replaced the spark plugs, and am unsure what the problem can be?

  1. check the power pack on it,those are bad to go out when they haven't been used in a while,id say that will be the problem,im not sure if the 71 had points in it or not,but the condenser will go dead under the fly wheel and that will kill the fire to the plugs also,good luck with it.


  2. Possible ign module has failed. Check it.Also check # 1 answer too. Got a manual??It will give a lot more info!!
