It used to be points it was switched to electronic and the pretronix unit went bad from key being on. Would that cause no spark? It turns over fine but it doesn't get spark. Is the $80 Pertronix all I will need?

  1. If by "the unit" you mean the electronic unit in the distributer is burned up then yes, that will definitely cause a no spark.

I was not aware that leaving the key on would do that but nonetheless you need the distributer component, make sure you gap it as close to spec as you can when you change it.

    Good luck!

  2. could be but just in case check your coil before doing anything, make sure everything is there, start from the bottom and work your way up, process of elimination
