it allows me to accelertate but once it gets going about 30 to 40 mph it boggs out. it wont start when I try to start it back up after it happens. It's like it isnt getting the fuel it supposed to, it will turn over but just boggs back out. I can get it back started it just seems that its from luck that it will finally start. Its on a 1989 mystique bass boat. I feel like when i get accelerated that the motor is not in the water like it should be.

  1. Motor doesn't have cam lobes...geez! Sounds like your fuel pump is weak. Try taking the boat out with a friend, and as you run it have him squeeze the primer ball repeatedly. If the problem doesn't occur, replace the fuel pump. If it does, you need to look at the carbs. More than likely the pump.

  2. Have the same motor, lobes on the cam wear down reducing valve clearance in the cylinder heads, or air vent!
