1977 F-250 spewing fuel out of carburetor...?

When trying to start it.

2 barrel carb has been removed, cleaned and replaced. Only runs if accelerator is pumped wildly!

Any other ideas of what could be wrong?

The float level is right where it's supposed to be.

  1. Cleaned how? Disassembled or just tossed in a solvent bucket? Obviously something has gone wrong an the carb needs to be disassembled and checked.

  2. Spewing out where?

1.Through the fuel line going in, or out? Replace the hoses ,or put on claps

2.Through the sides, meaning you need to rebuild the card?

3.Through the base, which means you need to replace the gasket

4.Or too much gas is coming into the carb and its flooding itself out?-

    - which means you need to re-adjust the mixture settings of the air, and the fuel

    I had a an F-150 (77)

429, pulled from a Country Squire

427 racing heads pulled out of a wrecked 429 Mach Mustang

With a Carter 650 double pumper (2 bbl carb)

    44" Mickey Thomspon Mudders

    Ya' Feel it?

  3. you might have a hole in the float and letting the gas rise too far. take the top off and see if it,s got 1 of those brass floats, sometimes they will get a pin hole in it and sink to the bottom of the bowl.
