i own brown 1979 pontiac trans am with a 301 engine in it. not an SE.

my question is that should i put the SE exterior on my trans am (stripes and gold trim) or should i leave it that way. cause i plan to change its body color to metalic black . and add the bandit stripes on it. but iam not sure. cause i dont want to make it clone. and i hate clones. but iam not going to make it EXACKLY like the SE. (just the stripes and the trim) and then change its engine to a 7.5 Litre. tell me in your opinion if its a good idea.

  1. If you've always wanted one, then do it.  Everybody does this, and so it's been hackneyed to death, and that is the PRICE YOU PAY.  You will have what you wanted, but it will not be at all unique.

P.S. Studebaker trucks are incredibly beautiful.  They were 10 years ahead of the competition in 1955.  Don't kid yourself.

  2. Your car has to make YOU happy.  Do what turns your crank and to he!! with everybody else.

I own a '55 Studebaker truck.  I absolutely adore my truck, but it has zero collector value.  I can put whatever engine I want in it without effecting its value.  Same with paint, same with EVERYTHING!

I also own a '60 Matchless twin.  I'm in love with this bike.  When I pull in to a "Harley hangout", a crowd always gathers around my little British TT bike.  I'm the only one there that can say I own the only WARM Matchless 650 in north America!  (they were so bad they not only disappeared from the street, but this is the model that sank the company!)

When I'm not enjoying the powerband of my Matchless I ride a '55 BMW.  This bike is civility in its purest form.  No front dip when braking.  No rear dive when accelerating.  The opposed engine has perfect mechanical balance.  This bike is a masterpiece of engineering accomplished through the simplest design concepts imaginable.

I also own a '55 Belair.  This car isn't particularly fast, but it's a dream to drive.  The wife and I love using it every day.

If you don't have to "prove" anything, find out who you are, and then figure out what makes you happy.

    Then enjoy it.
