1980 Honda CB750F Super Sport: Bad Alternator, How Much Money for Repair?

My friend is selling me a 1980 Honda CB750F Super Sport for $600. The alternator recently went bad. How much money would it be to replace the alternator? How much money am I looking it for repairs? Thanks.

Just an experienced guess, about $300 from a honda dealer.Also, when you pull it apart you'll be able to see & smell if it's windings are bad. Check it before you order the new part(s).

Alternator, regulator/rectifier, done at a shop, around $600.

Are you sure it's the alternator? Usually, it's just the rectifier/regulator. Most people who say "stator" don't even know what one is. Part of the reason they always spell it wrong...
