Hood stuck on a 1980 L82 corvette?

My dad has been holding on to my brother's corvette for about five years now. My dad's sick of it and wanted to give it back, but first we drove the corvette to a local shop so they could put a new radiator in it. Now my brother's corvette's hood is stuck. We've tried pressing down on the hood to get it to open. Now, low and behold, the car won't start.

What's a cheaper way to get the hood to pop open so we can see what's wrong with it?

  1. MEGAN, have someone sit on the front of the hood, and have someone move the cable in the car in and out a few times. NOW, while you are on the hood, have the person pull the hood lever inside the car back all the way, while he has the hood latch lever pull back, hold it in that positon, and have someone bounce on the front of the hood just above the corvette emblem. You should hear the hood pop. If the hood lever, inside the car moves very freely, the cable is probably snapped. You may try reaching up under the front of the car, and release the hood latch manually, from underneath. Also if you can see the latch from underneath, spray some P B BLASTER penetrating oil on the latch from underneath. DONB'T LET THAT SPRAY COME DOWN IN TO YOUR EYE'S or your in trrouble. Good Luck, SUNSHINE

  2. Do not have any 1 sit on the hood it's fiberglass> Besides it opens from the back there are 2 locks 1 on each side> Pull the cable and push down on the corners about 12" in move back and forth>Isn't the battery behind the passengers seat? Or drivers seat>Under a compartment?? The hood light was 1 of the causes of a dead battery so check and see if it's on when your done>
