  1. Simplest guess is bad battery. It could be undercharged, or have a dead cell. After you know you have a good, fully charged battery, check and clean all the connections: Battery negative to frame, battery positive to solenoid, solenoid to starter motor. If that doesn't get it, we go deeper: jumper the solenoid terminals - if the motor turns, replace the solenoid.

I usually don't have to go further than that.

  2. solenoid or the battery could be faulty

  3. Solinoid Jump across it if it turns over thats what it is

  4. Put the battery on a slow charge. If it will not take a charge in 8 hrs ,replace it.If this motorcycle has sit for a long time, pull the plugs and spray WD-40 in each cylinder.let it sit for a half day.Now try the starter with the plugs out if it still does not turn,Then take a wrench and gentley turn the crank shaft being aware that it could easily damage the ignition.

  5. Sounds like a corroded or burned starter switch, the one behind the starter button

I've had the problem on a Valkyrie and a Magna.

Look for the simplest fix, first.  Check that all your cable ends are clean and fastened securely.  Your battery should hold a charge of slightly over 13 Volts fully charged.
