1982 Suzuki GS 1100 running bad after driving it for a couple miles

Question

When i start my bike it runs great and when i put a couple miles on it.it will not pull itself at all.you give it any amount of gas it will bog and end up killing.sometimes it wont start back up at all. The bike is weird like after it was doing all that i cracked it down and it was fast again but then i drive it later it bogs and kills again.so far i cleaned the gas tank and made sure the plug caps were on good.the spark plugs were also black but tan on the tips.the bike does have rebuilt carbs too.any help would be great thanks

I've been right where you are.  Faulty condenser.  Two cylinders would quit and it acted like a fuel starvation problem.  A tune-up kit (plugs, points, condensers) put me back in wheelie city. My GS was an '82 GS1000.  I did the same dance with the fuel valve and filter and jets, too.

My old '82 GS850G had a vacuum operated fuel shut-off. One time the vacuum line came off and the bike acted that way until it completely died. It's just one more thing to check. To me it sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Another thing to check is tank venting. I would (carefully) take the bike for a ride with the fuel cap really loose or off all the way. If that cures the problem, it was a vent issue. I have another possibility that happened to a friend of mine. His fuel lines started to delaminate and get soft. The fuel line was getting sucked closed when he revved it up so it would eventually choke off fuel flow to the engine.

I would just replace the fuel lines. They are cheap enough to do anyway.

possibilities:

Choke stuck on (Ok when cold then boggs down)

Heat related electrical, Coils bad and misses under load.

                                  wires bad and miss under load

c**p in jets unrealated to weather its warmed up or not, just random.
